The beauty of the horse unfolds
and increases only if he is improved through his own virtues and
talents. The art in horsemanship must be perceived only as a
verification and fulfillment of the horse. . . . Riders must want
to grow. For that process is, indeed, the art.
-- Charles deKunffy, The Athletic Development of the Dressage
Horse
Hawaii Isle Dressage and Combined Training Association
was founded in 1989 by a group of Big Island riders who
wanted to learn
more about the art and sport of dressage, while also building skills in
jumping and cross-country riding.
